I have been meaning to revisit The Edgbaston for quite sometime after making a brief trip back in 2015. For some reason or another the opportunity never presented itself through 2016; but as 2017 has kicked off, I’ve found myself at the cocktail bar a fair few times over the last five weeks…
Since 2015 the team and warmth of The Edgbaston has grown. It has a relaxed and informal vibe but does so while maintaining a very classical feel. Each of the bar team have their own style and are incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about their work. Their wide variety of cocktail creations houses something for everyone and that too with a very well thought out compass style guideline to aid you in choosing your drinks based on flavour characteristics.
During my most recent visit, my party of three were taken on tour of the hotel and its three bars, introduced to a golden swan and instantly took to the sparkling golden walls in the basement. The 1920s inspired decor flows throughout the building and provides a good hours worth of ‘Instagram-able’ moments
Firm favourites of the current drinks list have to include CLOVER CLUB 3000 (£12.00) which consists of Tanqueray No. TEN Gin, Rhubarb Liqueur, Fresh Lemon, Raspberry & Pomegranate, NO2 and WHOOPSY DAISY (£9.00) which is made up of Ketel One Vodka, Rhubarb Liqueur, Fresh Lemon, Pomegranate & Raspberry.
With the launch of their new cocktail menu happening sometime in the next week, trips back to The Edgbaston are inevitable. Special thanks do have to go out to James, Tom and Sam for their great use of puns, choice in biscuits and incredibly in sync hi-fives.
